Lisa is Awesome! – Noah

For my German partner who is few with his words this is all that needs to be said. I, on the other hand, could rant and rave for pages about how thankful we are we found Lisa (or shall I say our spirit in the belly chose her). She makes it all seem so easy, and that to me is the true sign of someone with talent. I look back and remember the birth as an amazing wonderful experience but there were some definite challenges that Lisa handled, so calm and confidently, it hardly registered as a ripple for my own experience. Her genuine friendship, and on call support during the prenatal and postnatal times are priceless (I still feel like I can call her and ask her advice which I value so much when it comes to raising this child). She is incredibly organized with paperwork and I greatly appreciated that too! I really enjoyed and felt nourished by my home visits with Lisa. She drove all the way out to Covelo to see me. The time she took to be with my family was amazing!

I am so ultimately blessed that Spirit lead me to find Lisa Rawson. We worked together to birth my son. I was inspired and empowered. I felt confident that the care of my baby and myself was good, but it was, GREAT. Her true life’s calling is as a midwife. In service to birth and Womyns health was clear and apparent as she worked out all sorts of payment methods and plans. Monthly house calls were such a total luxury!

When I went into labor I was again assured; as Lisa arrived-then her assisting midwife-I was in professional hands, literally. As she suited up in scrubs and rubber shoes and set out her medical bag, the two Womyn worked side by side in such a cohesive and loving way. This felt so supportive for my experience it helped me so much because what I was experiencing was SO strong. As it turns out I had forgotten about some family traits in regards to our big baby boys and their shoulders. So in short thank the goddess, MameCheck and Lisa Rawson for a successful birth. I can honestly say Midwives use their Hands where Doctors use Tools. If I had been in a hospital, I would have had a very sad experience. Lisa was so skilled and capable; I am forever grateful to her in our lives.

She is sensitive, full of love, and genealogy. Yet she is firm, proud and confident, as she deserves to be. She is a real Womyn, and an outrageous midwife.

Lisa helped to bring our daughter Iris into the world in October of 2015. From our first meeting I felt that Lisa honored my wishes as a mother and an individual. She was wonderfully thorough and organized about all of the technical details, paperwork, etc. She followed up with all of our questions and concerns. She was unfazed by our rugged, outdoorsy home setup. She really took the time to support me through all of the myriad stages of emotion that come up before, during and after childbirth. Her confidence, knowledge and compassion made me feel safe and supported. I count Lisa as a true supporter of human rights and as a friend. From the first time my husband Louis and I met Lisa we knew that we didn’t need to search any longer. During our consultation, Lisa assured us of her experience, answered all of our questions as well as being very detailed in her answers and very organized about paperwork, etc. Lisa took the time to get to know us as a family and as individuals, Lisa asked about our past birth experiences and why my husband and I wanted a home birth. Lisa made it possible for my husband to be at every home visit and involved in every step of bringing our baby boy into this world. Lisa assured and encouraged my husband the whole way. Lisa helped bring our son Skylar into this world in September 2016, our birth experience was everything we could have asked for and more. Lisa truly made me feel safe, even though we had a little hiccup during birth, she handled it wonderfully and did what she had to do to bring my son earth side safely. My family and I would highly recommend Lisa to other expectant families. Lisa truly cares for her patients’ needs in every way possible.

We met Lisa toward the very end of my pregnancy and we consider ourselves so lucky to have found her.

I so appreciated how she took the time to really get to know our family: stopping by our home often, sharing ideas, having meals with us, bringing laughter.  There were belly palpations and fetoscope use, but the medical procedures really fell into the background or at least didn’t dominate our time with her.  After having experienced prenatal care from other local midwives, I also want to acknowledge Lisa’s high skill level.  She uses the fetoscope effortlessly and was confident in determining my baby’s position.  She possesses a unique combination of intellect and intuition and most importantly, she really trusts birth.  She respected my birthing wishes to be left alone and interfered with very minimally. During my labor, she remained calm and non-reactive, checked in on me without being invasive and closely tracked my progress. Our baby was born gently in our home which was such a beautiful way to welcome her earth-side.  My birth experience brought me in direct contact with a deep internal strength that feels so crucial to have accessed amidst my passage into motherhood.  Lisa’s postpartum support was truly invaluable—she was 100% there for us as we adjusted to being new parents and it really felt that she became a close member of our family.  You will not regret choosing Lisa as your midwife!

Lisa is an unyielding force of nature in birthwork. On top of that she is a vibrant and fun person to have in your life for the duration of your pregnancy, birth, and beyond. She was there at every twist and turn of our first child bearing experience to offer her calm confident wisdom, ease concerns, and bring joy and humor into the most uncomfortable moments. She doesn’t hesitate to work in a huge variety of settings and made us feel that anything we wished for would be possible. Lisa helped bring our favorite person into the world and that is no small feat. We miss seeing her and can’t wait to do it all over again someday!

I had the phenomenal pleasure of asking Lisa to be my midwife during my third trimester. I was having a stressful time and she talked with me about hospitals, homes, dynamics and all the things that just tug at you as you get closer. She was a calm, cool and collected voice. I knew after our first conversation she was the right choice. I love that she was very thorough in asking me my birth plan and what that looked like as well as helping me talk through plan B’s and C’s. Lisa’s knowledge of birthing goes beyond labor + delivery. She really uses her awareness and experience to give you what you need to guide you through your own personal journey. With every prenatal appointment I began to feel so empowered and excited to have my baby. I always felt heard, respected and given absolute knowledge about procedures and processes. I am truly grateful to Lisa and her team for the guidance on my daughters trip earth side. I was mostly, above all,
moved about having someone who loves my baby as much as me, there to meet her. The bond between midwife, mom and baby is forever I’ve heard. Now I can attest to that. Lisa’s passion is selflessly caring about her moms and babies in every fiber. Thank you for everything!

From our first appointment with Lisa, my partner and I knew we had found someone incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and kind to guide us through our first pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. She spent meaningful time getting to know us, listening to us, and tailoring her support and education to exactly what we needed as first time parents. We felt prepared for our birth, well supported and respected during the birth, and incredibly well taken care of during the extensive postpartum care that she provides. I simply can’t imagine doing this any other way, with any other person. Having a child can be about so much more than “healthy mom, healthy baby.” I’d explain my experience as empowering, joyful, vulnerable, authentic, powerful, primal, and transformative. From the moment my husband and I walked into Lisa’s office for our initial consultation we knew she was going to be our Midwife. From the art on the walls, to her answers to our questions, she was exactly the energy we wanted guiding us through our first pregnancy. Lisa was always there for me at any point I had questions or challenges, regardless of what day or time it was. I felt so confident in her abilities that I went into the labor with basically no fear. Being able to give birth in my own home was an incredible experience, and I was looking forward to the day. When I was in labor Lisa and her assistant Emma were extremely helpful and knew exactly what to do from start to finish. My husband and I continue to talk about how amazing the whole experience was and how lucky we feel to have had them by our side. We are so impressed with her level of professionalism, care, knowledge, experience, and overall energy, and if we have any more children we will ABSOLUTELY be calling Lisa.

The level of comfort and compassion that Lisa gives her clients is unmatched. I transferred to Lisa just before my second trimester with my 3 baby; from our very first meeting the level of knowledge, the comfort and care about more than just seeing you as a client, surpasses any care that I have received. She makes sure that your whole family feels comfortable with her and her assistant, who is equally as wonderful.. I ended up not getting the home birth that I had planned for my whole pregnancy, but Lisa gave me all of the information I needed and the time to make a decision that I felt was best for my birth. When the decision was made, she came to the hospital with us and was there until after our baby was born. She called or texted multiple times to check on us while we were in the hospital. And was at our home within an hour of us getting home for our first postnatal check up.

If you are even possibly considering a home birth, I could not recommend Lisa more.

After four hospital births we wanted something different for our 5th baby and we are so happy that we found Lisa! It was such a different experience to have prenatal visits in our own home with a provider that truly listens and cares about our family. She acts as a guide through pregnancy, delivery and postpartum providing all options and letting you choose what works best for you.
